Raza Tariq, M.D.
Forensic Psychiatrist
Dr. Raza Tariq is a board-certified attending psychiatrist at Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health and is an Assistant Professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He completed his forensic psychiatry fellowship at New York University. His forensic training focused on core areas of criminal forensic evaluation, including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, violence risk assessment, and expert testimony. He has worked closely with mental health courts and diversion programs, providing evaluations that support alternatives to incarceration for individuals with serious mental illness. Dr. Tariq completed his general psychiatry residency at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he served as Chief Resident, and pursued additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy through the Psychoanalytic Association of New York. His scholarly work and clinical experience reflect a commitment to culturally sensitive, ethically grounded forensic practice in both correctional and community settings.
